如果你认为公交车是最基本的服务,请写信给加拿大劳工关系委员会,表述你的看法,以便塔他们出面要OCTranpo复工。
Hi everyone,
The Canada Industrial Relations Board is asking this week for members of the public to write in and explain why they think OC Transpo should be declared an essential service. Many of us have had our mobility severely reduced by this strike.
You have had difficulty getting to work, to school, to exams, or even out to visit friends. Those without cars have been cooped up in their homes, or forced to beg others for rides or pay expensive taxi fares just to uphold your responsibilities. Those with cars and those carpooling have been subject to excruciatingly long commutes as traffic congestion (particularly when coupled with snowstorms anmd road rage) makes driving stressful and dangerous. Some, like me, have even been stuck walking an hour and a half to work through bitterly cold winds and sleet. One of my workmates had a three and a half hour drive to and from work last week.
As the strike continues, what little sympathy I may have had for both parties evaporates. I understand the importance of unions, but I feel the bad faith of the childish parties on both sides of the bargaining table (which is presently abandoned and gathering dust while we suffer) is causing unnecessary disruption to the lives of all Ottawans.
If you're as frustrated with this strike as my friends and I are, please take the time to write to the CIRB at the following link, and pass this message to your friends so that they might write in as well:
Notice to the Public
This strike is indeed causing damage to the physical and mental health of the population, and endangering the commute for numerous workers. Please have your say and tell the CIRB why we think the strike is ridiculous.
Thank you
