有谁是从多伦多搬来的?说说吧..

我最近一直陷入是走是留的苦恼中,想看看有没有有经验的人给我提个醒. 在渥太华毕业快一年半了,我学的是金融专业.现在在一家公司上班,收入不是很高. 现在移民马上下来了,我就走到了十字路口:不知道该不该去多伦多发展.其实从好的一方面来说,对于我们学金融的,多伦多毕竟是金融中心,机会应该比渥太华多,而在渥太华大部分公司应聘有关商业的职位,很多都需要会法语,这对于我来说是很大的一个局限.但对于渥太华,其实很有感情了,来这里5,6年了,哪里都熟,而且有很多朋友都在渥太华,交通起码比多伦多好,另外车保也比多伦多将近便宜一倍. 都说多伦多机会多,但可是竞争也大. 我还考虑到我的父母,如果以后父母年龄大了，他们想来加拿大长住,如果住在渥太华他们会很闷的,毕竟一句英语也不会说,对于他们来说住在多伦多或许会好一些.反正最近挺矛盾的,看看有没有过来人给提点一下.

Well, let put it this way if you move to Toronto:

1. You will have a better job opportunity even you don't speak French
2. Toronto require more people like yourself which profession is in Finance.
3. You will make more friends in Toronto, it just take sometime to achieve that goal.
4. Public Transit is better in Toronto than Ottawa, however you are facing traffic congestion everyday.
5. If your parent decided to moved to Canada, Toronto will be a better city for them cause more Chinese there. (easy to make friends, more Chinese speaking doctors, social workers, better social network, etc.)
6. Better choices of food, restaurant. Better shopping choices (That my parent biggest complain in Ottawa)

If you stay in Ottawa:

1. You stayed at a job which might not get you anywhere, any the pay is so so. (don't forget you'll have to support your parent once they are here. Oh, and you want to get married and have kids. Bigger house, mini van and so on. In others word you need more money)
2. You got friends here
3. You are familiar with Ottawa.
4. You don't have to face traffic congestion all the time. (that will change in years to come)
5. You parent will not like Ottawa (that for sure, too cold in the winter, not a lot of things to do, and hard to get around in the city) if they moved to Canada.
6. It is difficult to fine a Chinese speaking doctor in Ottawa. (You parent is getting older therefore it translated into more visits to doctor office, lab works, specialist visits etc.) And you will be requesting a lot of time off to take your parent to those appointments. Don't forget you have to do all the translation in English, good luck Finance guy.

So, only one question left, when do you pack and move to Toronto?

I was in Toronto for years and in Ottawa more than 10 years.

I like Ottawa for the followed reasons:

Ottawa is more cleaning, more green and less people.

General speaking, Ottawa people are nice than the people in Toronto. .

Ottawa house price is much cheaper than that in Toronto.

For the same job, Ottawa's salary income is more than that in Toronto. But, if you apply the same job you did in Ottawa, you may try to ask a higher salary when you be interviewed by your new employer.

Toronto trafic is always heavy. Take one hour or more by driving or bus to go to work is normal in Toronto.

You need pay more for car insurance in Toronto.

On the other side, good things in Toronto: Toronto Chinese are much more than here and Chinese food is delicious and much cheaper. Most
swimming pools, sports are free. Bus system is better and convenient
.

谢谢楼上二位的宝贵建议. 大概多伦多的优点和缺点,我都知道了.只是不知道那里工作机会多不多,因为有几个朋友先去了多伦多但一直都找不到很好的工作机会.

現在不是去多倫多找工作的好時機，特別是金融. 但我相信, 多倫多會對你是個更好機會的city， 當市場扭轉過來后. 渥太華是個IT和政府的city​

It is better you find job first before you go to Toronto. Then you can quit your Ottawa job -- normally, new job offer give you a few weeks to start. That's the way local people doing. I did same thing before I went to Ottawa.
