About going through the custom in Vancouvar[问题]

Hi, one of friends will land and come to Ottawa soon. He is worrying about if there is enought time when he arrives Vancouvar airport custom and does immigration process. Does anybody have the experience not being able to catch the next plane to Ottawa? If that happends what he should do...

I need the answer ASAP, thanks a lot.

可以改搭从toronto飞ottawa,我第一次也是没赶上飞机,没直达航班了,只有去toronto.
