YMCA 正考虑在 Stephen Leacook Public School 为2009年增加 after school program。
They are collecting names who are interested in the program. The fee for the student in the program would be ~$150/month.
If you are interested， please call 613-237-1320 ext 4049 and add your name in the waiting list.
If your kid is not studying in the Stephen Leacook, you still can register for the program. School bus can take your kid to Stephen Leacook after his/her school.

这很奇怪啊，我们上周才收到Stephen Leacook的通知，他们校舍不够，要把新或现有学生迁到新开的Briarbook学校，而那间Briarbook学校就是想办daycare的。

我们有点气愤呀，因为报名是他们只字不提没校舍的，到现在报名期限已过，我们也没办法再报其他学校。

看来是想用排名高的Stephen Leacook用来招揽学生报名，再迫学生转去新开没名的Briarbook新学校呢。

说起排名，今年 （2007-2008）Stephen Leacock 怎么一下子降到 521 名了？
看来这种排名，真不太科学

这排名是有很多同分的，所以例如是全省排第三最高，但实际是有50间第一高，100间第二高，400间第三高之类。

楼上请问，你家小孩是今年上stephen leacock？还是已经上了？我在报纸上看到该学校校舍不够要搬走一部分孩子，我家小孩也在此校，但是并没有收到学校的搬迁通知。请问你什么时候收到的，信上怎么说。谢谢。

信是Feb 17寄的。我们是报了九月的JK。这信写的九月有两类班级其一要迁走，JK是其一，另外的是现有的LFI学生。

"The construction of the new Briarbrook chool is well underway for opening September 2009. While some relief will be provided at Stephen Leacock P.S. as a result of the opening of the new Briarbrook school, enrolment pressures at Stephen Leacock P.S. remain high.

In the interim, staff is considering a program amendment to alleviate pressure at Stephen Leacock P.S. Tow options that have been considered for implemented September 2009 are:

1) Redirecting or capping Junior Kindergarten enrolment at Stephen Leacock P.S.

2) Relocating the Late French Immersion program currently housed at Stephen Leacock P.S."

If too many dumb students entered that school, the rating will for sure go down in the next 2~3 years.

One cannot conclude the rating system is bad simply because the rating changes year-over-year.

同分不影响其后学校的名次吧？比如50间并列第一名，第51间还是第51名，只是不存在2-50名而已，100间第二高，第151间仍然第151名，以此类推。。。

对呀，就是说就算是排151名的可以是第三高，值98分的学校了。

排151名表示，至少有151所学校比这一所成绩高，不管他们并列不并列，不是吗？

这个学校的数目嘛，是越来越多的。而学校的水准嘛，平均点以上的是越来越相近的。

我二十年前来加拿大找学校时看的这个排名嘛，发觉跟今天看的情况是不同的，现在平均点以上拿同分的学校有很多，都再没什麽「明星」学校的感觉。

以前父母特地去买屋来让我们读排头位的那间学校(不是渥太华的)，现在再看那个学校排名，都已是双位数字了，因为很多学校都拿差不多分数。但最近我以前的老师联络过我的，谈话间说到以前的老师很多还在该校教呢，师资应该也没变差，学校也越来越大和先进，因为很多旧生的家庭都捐款到学校，所以觉得还是好学校来的(不是指LZ指的这间)。当然，有时老师有时也说到，现在这一代不如你们以前那一代的了。那就要看孩子本身的「质地」了。

只是对新学校嘛，就有点保留。

校舍不够 does not mean there is no enough space for after school program, as it starts after school.


By the way, 你们好像都不担心after school day care 吗。是不是都有好办法解决呀？ 能不能share? Thanks.
