I have a Kenmore range with smooth top. But I couldn't remember the model. It is about 6 years. One of the biggest top couldn't turn on couple month ago, but the switch light indicator was on always. I asked one of the technician (who's Korean, Last name is Lee) from Yellowpage, he checked and told me the element of the range top had problem, needed to replaced. It is about $260 just for the order, and I have to pay another $100 for the labour. I declined this offer. I called another person from Yellowpage (Call Jim..., he is from Porland). He checked and told me the same thing. I did a price search in the website. It is true for the price of the element. So I asked this guy to open the element and give him the 线路图. Asked him to fix it. If he couldn't do it, I thought I will buy a new one instead of paying about $350 to fix it. About 30 minutes, he fixed it. So I payed $80 to him.
You can try to contact this guy. When he visit you, you don't need to pay for this visit, but you do pay $25 for the visit if he find there is nothing wrong. It is very hard to fix if the element has problem.
