TITLE: Junior Software Designer
LOCATION: Kanata, Ontario, Canada
REPORTS TO: Senior Manager, P&T
POSITION SUMMARY
Develop features for the ON-Center Network Management System (NMS).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
·Develop components, primarily in Java, of carrier-grade Element and Network Management system software that delivers FCAPS solutions for network service providers.
·Responsible for the entire software lifecycle from requirements through architecture, design, coding, unit testing, feature testing, and interfacing with our product verification teams and possibly directly with customers.

Qualifications:
SKILLS
·Capable of handling aspects of complex software development and support in large scale, distributed, Linux/Unix/NT-based computing environments including requirements definition, design, coding, and testing production releases.
·Working independently and with a team of other developers
·Past participation in all aspects of the software development cycle: design, coding, testing, maintenance
·Experience working on a shipping software product
·Solid background in OO design
·Programming experience in Java, and possibly also C++
·Programming experience with multithreaded applications
DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS
·Self starter
·Candidates must be creative and have strong communication skills
·Ability to work with little supervision
·Enjoys working in a rapidly changing environment
·Excellent documentation and communication skills
EDUCATION and/or RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
·Computer Science or Engineering degree or equivalent
Experience with a variety of the following:
