***In the past 30 plus years, Prof. Sit has done extensive research on China. His work covers China, its economy and its links to the global system, urban and regional development, and social and political evolution. He has published many refereed articles in a number of major scholarly journals in English and Chinese. His work is widely respected and frequently cited, and he is well known in international circles for his work on China’s economy, economic geography, and urbanism. Prof. Sit has profound knowledge and understanding of Chinese policies and development trends which results from his extraordinary links and ties to Chinese academic and scholarly organizations as well as his service on governmental bodies. These activities have given him a unique opportunity to acquire a keen understanding of the Chinese viewpoint and insight into the manner in which China’s scholarly community operates as well as an insider’s view of the workings of its political system and policy evolution.
