how part time job affects EI? (Please help)

I was laid off last summer and $1000 EI can not cover all my basic
expenses. I want to work part time but I worry about the income
from the part time will be deducted from my EI. Is there anyone
who can tell me how the Human Resource Canada makes the rules.

You should talk to HR person about that. They have formulas to calculate your earning and your EI. Usually they encourage you to get job, even a low pay job, e.g. below $xx per week you earn, you keep all money and get the same amount of EI payment; above the $xx per week, they will deduct dollar to dollar from your EI payment. (i.e. you earn extra $10 per week about $xx, your EI will less $10).
