Workplace Communication
Facilitator: Renata Dunn, Applied Linguistics Specialist
Objective: To improve pronunciation and confidence in speaking for meetings and presentations; to communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues and business associates, face-to-face, on the phone, or in writing (e-mails, letters, memos, notes, agendas, minutes, reports, instruction manuals).
With years of experience in learning foreign languages and in teaching English, Renata will help you to speak more clearly so that people will understand you better. You'll learn what to say and how to say it in all kinds of work and social situations. Also, you'll learn how to write in different styles for different purposes. The lessons are communicative, you'll get to know your classmates better and have fun
ICT Communication Skill
Facilitator: Kelly McDonald,
Objective: Presentation skills in ICT workplace
An experienced technology professional, Kelly McDonald has worked in the telecommunications industry for almost 10 years as manager, senior marketing and Executive Briefing Specialist He has managed, presented and demonstrated a variety of products and solutions to over 170 Nortel customers influencing over $150 million dollars in sales. Kelly has a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Calgary and is a member of the Cornell-Queen’s MBA class of 2010. An avid public speaker, Kelly is a distinguished Toastmaster and has trained several hundred people in communications and presentation skills.
The training is a combination of an overview of presentation skills and their application in workplace as simulated in case studies in class.

Project management and workplace simulation (case studies)

Objective: to understand basics in project management and apply in real cases
By working through various scenarios in case studies, to learn and practice how technical skills and soft skills are combined and used in workplace.
Eduardo is an experienced professional in the project, learning and training fields. He has succeeded in roles locally and overseas. Some of his roles include project consultant, senior training analyst, business coordinator in companies such as France Telecom, Dell Inc, and most recent with the Youth Service Bureau of Ottawa.
