What I did is follow the procedures listed in Chapter 2 to set up the comany online.

Here are some tips I think is relatively useful(they might have been changed because this is the experience 2 years ago):

1. setting up a company can be directly online or filling printed outforms then send by mail, or fax, or in person, online is quicker and cheaper, $200 Vs. $250

2. after you filling the forms online, you will receive the confirmation in about 24 hours by email, it really very fast

3. company can be federal or provincial, register a federal one can open your business in any provinces or territories, the costs of setting up running the different type of companies are around the same level(my understanding)

4. for choosing the name of the company, you need to pay $20 for naming check, which results in a NUANS report, you can also choose to use a numbered company, i.e., a company named with a serial number, then you don't need to pay for the NUANS report

5. for a federal incorporated company, you also need to register to the province(s) you want to do business, this step will also be online, just follow the redirection from federal procedures, you will be redirected to provincial registration procedures
6. after registered online, you will receive some forms(I don't remember what are these forms)which need to be filled and mail back
