回国生孩子,孩子还有加国身份吗?

今天看到一份报道,内容如下:

加拿大移民局上周五收緊移民法，不准加國公民在外地出生的孫子或孫女，自動享有加國公民身分，以防止非加國居民把加國公民身分無限傳下去。有關政策亦將影響不少在外地居住的華人移民，他們的子女或需回加拿大生育。

我的理解是:

我是加国公民,打算在国内生孩子,孩子应该自动成为加国公民吧,那他将来要生孩子就需要回加国生才能有加国身份吗?

管你自己的下一代就可以了。你的孙子那一代的事情，由你的子女去操心吧。等到那时候，不又施行什么皇历了。

上面的报道，我的理解是，在外国出生的孩子的父母不是加籍，祖父母是加籍，不能自动享有加國公民身分。换句话说，国籍只能下传一代，不能隔代相传／继承。

What does the new citizenship law that came into effect on April 17, 2009, do?

The new law simplifies citizenship rules by:

• restoring or giving Canadian citizenship to many who never had it or lost it due to previous laws;
• limiting Canadian citizenship to the first generation born to Canadian parents outside Canada; and
• allowing people adopted outside Canada by Canadian parents between January 1, 1947 and February 14, 1977 to apply for a grant of citizenship. "

But why you care about your children's children's citizenship issue so much when your children haven't been born yet?

My understanding/guess was right. It was this new rule that LZ was talking about:

Understanding the first generation limitation

Under the old rules, it was possible for Canadians to pass on their citizenship to endless generations born outside Canada. To protect the value of Canadian citizenship for the future, the new law limits – with a few exceptions – citizenship by descent to one generation born outside Canada.
This means that children born to Canadian parents in the first generation outside Canada will only be Canadian at birth if:

• one parent was born in Canada, or
• one parent became a Canadian citizen by immigrating to Canada and was later granted citizenship (also called naturalization).

上面的报道，我的理解是，在外国出生的孩子的父母不是加籍，祖父母是加籍，不能自动享有加國公民身分。换句话说，国籍只能下传一代，不能隔代相传／继承。

祖父母是加籍，他们的小孩就是加籍（父母），那父母是加籍，为什么孙子辈就失去加籍身份？不合情理！

也不是什么老黄历，这就是要决定你的儿子要在哪里生。咱们这么辛苦搞移民不就是为了加籍吗？
