Just partially right. If you want to swim everyday at home. You don't need take a lot of time for cleaning. Usually the swimming pool is covered by a solar cover. So you just need 5 mins for a quick clean. If you are a rich, you can buy some automatic cover. It will cover all pool and no leave at all. You just need do some circulation before you swim.

The pool opening and closing need some time(around 2 or 3 hours). But it is just some routine work. You can hire a professional at the 1st time. Then you can do the same things in the following years.

BTW, if you saw how many chemical poured into the public swim pool and see how quick your swim suit color fade away. You will think it is a good choice for a home pool.

If you have kids and you enjoy swimming, a pool in backyard is a good choice, too. Remember you don't need look into the schedule and avoid some conflict to your kids' other classes. Just jump in. Very very convenient. Also it is a kind of social tool for bringing some kids in your home and playing with your kids. Of course you have more chance to social with their parents, too.

When you buy a new big stuff, which will bring you many happiness and some annoying issues. For an example, buying a house. You have to know what you really want before you get a pool.

At last, the heater for a pool is necessary in Ottawa, especially you want to swim longer time or you have a deep pool.

Somehow my whole family enjoyed the swimming pool in the backyard between May and Sept. I only go to the public when I want to play in the Wave Pool.

多长才够长？50米=140多尺，lot要够深，否则，扎一个猛子到头了。

后院游泳池，就是戏水用的，不是正八经锻炼用的。

You might need to check by-law for the maxium size of pool. I think the size in picture is way off the allowed size here in ottawa.

誰不想要游泳池呢，关键是要有钱有闲还要有地啊，现在的lot越来越小了，我们家这样的要挖个像样尺寸的估计都不用deck了，直接从屋里就能跳出来，草也省得剪了

Heater 还要修个小屋。我的因放在室外，今年有个零件冻炸了。

盐水的容易打理，一个来月倒一次盐就行了，弄个氯气的检测器，有个指标看着就行了。没有罩子最讨厌的就是捞树叶，特别是这几次的狂风暴雨，稍作搁置捞晚了，整个跟个猴子捞月似的。还有造个operation room是有必要的，heater啥的统统放一起，冬天就不怕了。

BTW, 盐水的泳池没有氯气味儿，很温和，不确定是否因为电解产生氯的关系。啥事都是权利和义务对等，开心完了还得干活。
