正在做bathroom renovation. 请教一个关于shower 四周的 drywall 问题.

Contractor said: if you want to save money on the concrete drywall, just use glue and tile is fine, no need to buy any concrete drywall.

In my case, I have a shower tub at bottom. I don't know if the contractor's word is right or not. Or: 这个钱能省吗?

regular drywall - no no.
If it is a bathtub, you can use green drywall
If it is a standing shower stall and you only have the bottom piece, cement board.

I used blue drywall at my basement washroom for years (Behind a sink and behind the plastic of shower), there is a glass+plastic shower beside the sink, it is fine! This drywall is water-resistant.

"just use glue and tile" --->没有 drywall, 你将tile glue到什么上面呢?

I guess you can find another contractor for a free evaluation. At that time, you can listen what he will do your bathroom. After comparing, you will know which is better and correct.

现在的contractor一般都用一种blue drywall，比普通drywall贵一点，但比cement要便宜。
用regular drywall，一般也能坚持10多年，如果超过三个人用，也许能用5，6年？

用regular drywall麻烦是一旦瓷砖墙漏水，如果是DenSheld（blue drywall？）或concrete drywall，水会顺着dry wall流下到base 的坐背上。但是对于regular drywall，水会把drywall沁潮湿，膨胀，最终把瓷砖都破坏掉下来。其实DenSheld，或concrete drywall贵不了多少。一个shower才有多大尺寸，省不了多少钱。你自己到homedepot卖建材处看一下就知道了。你可以自己买材料，请contractor给你装。Good luck!

第一张：上半部是原来的concrete drywall，被我砸毁底部，卜上一块DenSheld。
第二张，涂上瓷砖胶.
第三张，装瓷砖。因为买不到一样的，只好找到这种颜色最接近的。
第四张，修复好的瓷砖墙。还没来得急装回shower 玻璃墙体。

肯定得用concrete drywall，　regular的能省多少钱啊！

关键是人工贵，而且做一次烦人，所以如果我要做，就肯定用好材料
