Thanks for your reply. My co-worker said it took them at least $30 monthly. Is that true?

It depends on what kind of dishwasher you are going to buy. The one I am using claims $25 per year (Bosch). Check the energy guide on the dishwasher you are going to buy to see how much it will cost. I think the most cost will be the hot water because dishwasher uses hot water only.

Mine is Kenmore. The first house owner bought from sears. I didn't find any energy guide. Is it a good one?

没问题。 因为家里的人口少，又懒得洗碗，我经常攒3-4天才洗一次。

mine is also Bosch. I use it almost everyday, or at least every other day, pretty good, I don't find it energy consuming.

我看过一个对比，说是除非手洗碗得时候用两池子水，一池子打洗碗液，一池子冲洗碗液，否则不如洗碗机省水。节能吗，还是手洗节能，－－－最多用电烧热水的能源。但是，手洗的质量是因洗碗工的水平和工作态度决定的，机器很少有马虎和摔摔打打的时候。
