HI. Did anybody or his/her friend or child has studied in Ridegmont High School in Alta Vista. Because my Brother has been sent to that High School. Is that a safe high school? like do they have bully, drug use or violence(欺負,藥物使用,暴力問題 )problem?

That school is not very good. According to Fraser Institute, the school ranks at the bottom of entire Ontario high school: 624 out of 680 schools. Parents' avg income: $48,000.

Avoid it at any cost.

I guess you never heard of Fraser ranking, no wonder you ask this question.

Income is just an indication which mean there are lots of low income housings in the area and that means...you know what.

Maybe you did not check the table I linked to, or you did not bother to do so. If you take a look of it, you will see how they rank schools.

thx for both of your suggestion they are very good and useful.
I understand why their parents income is low it is because this school accept a lot of immigrant and their parents has just arrived in Canada so that's why they cannot find a high pay job.
And this school only have 775 students unlike others has around 1000 to 1500 students.
but actually do you have any idea about the safety of this school or the area surround it?that is that most concern for me.

My brother has started his school year and the vice headmaster is so kindly and teachers are so friendly. it looks like that 's a nice school.

My brother said those teachers and the vice headmaster is so friendly and helpful. As you said before i do no think it is necessary to change school

flyaway2001, I had never put any weight in the Fraser Institute's ranking, only Chinese immigrants from Hong Kong (and some from China) treat it as a bible. A lot of them buy their houses based on this ranking, I kid you not.

To most of us, we really have no choice because where to go is more or less fixed based on where you live. Of course, you could apply to go to a school of your choice, but acceptance by that school is always slimed.

If your brother likes it there now, then stay there. A good learning environment is conducting to good studying.

Also, it is also illegal for university to accept student based on his school's ranking or reputation.

The OP asked for suggestions and I gave mine based on the information I had.

If you do not mind sending your kids to bottom school, I cannot care less. But if I can choose I will find a better one. My co-workers told to avoid that area at any cost. And the school happens to locate in that area.
