According to its website, this course is "rated one of the most exciting public golf courses in Eastern Ontario".

If it lives up to its reputation, this will be an exciting game. Can't wait!

Thanks Robin! See you guys at the course.

I checked their "Pace of Play":

"Its been known for years SLOW PLAY throws people off their game and detracts from the enjoyment of golfing. When golfers fall behind, the course backs up, tee-off times are delayed and golfers become impatient. Letting groups through doesn't solve the problem of slow play. Additional delay happens while groups are being let through and the remaining groups are still held up. The solution to slow play is for groups to FOLLOW THE LEADING GROUP of players ahead of their own. Then, there are few delays and all the golfers benefit.
A round of golf should take no longer than four hours and 30 minutes to play. An average of 15 minutes per hole is considered standard pace for any par 72 golf course. Some golfers feel that this pace is too fast, but keep in mind, slow play is not caused by bad shots or difficult greens. Rather, slow play is the result of bad habits that can be corrected."

Actually we are planning to have an Ottawa Chinese golf competition next year (this year is too late for a 6-8 round match play). We better set up good habits. Let's try to follow the rules this time and eliminate mulligans and gimmes.:)

Agree! Thanks Jeff.

Thanks Robin.
I fully agree Xiao yan's suggestion. Let's enforce it from this weekend.

Other clubs also use 30 second rule for each player.

You mean on the green or every stroke? I support it anyway. The professionals generally have very brief routines. We better reduce unneccessary practice swings in front of the ball...:D

What's penalty for exceeding 30 seconds?
I've no problem with this rule but think it may be difficult to enforce.
I guess the idea is one should be always conscious about the fact that others are waiting to play. Of cause, don't put undure pressure on yourself. Afterall, psychology plays a a big role in golfing.

A reminder to bring your cart.
So far I didn't hear anybody plan to rent power cart. We will all walk.
Weather is great so it should be a fun game!

A 2:40pm game played till 8:00pm due to the extrememly slow group ahead. In the 18th hole, the sky was completely dark. So we simply walked straight to the parking lot. Season changes fast. It's very windy and cold on the course. Seems not many rounds we can play this year.:(
Anyway, see you guys tomorrow. Maybe we need extra 10 minutes after game to talk about the competitions next year...

Lucky you played another game today. Hope tomorrow the pace will be better at Nation and we can finish the game around 6:00pm, well before sunset.

A gentle reminder tomorrow's tee time will be 1:24 pm.

Hugh, Brian and me will car-pool and we'll leave Barharven around 11:40am and hope to be there around 12:40 or 40 minutes before the game time.

See you tomorrow Jeff.

Thanks guys for a fun game. I know this is not reflected on the scoresheet as none of us are happy with the final scores (Brian 94, Hugh 97, Jeff 102 and Robin 102).

Nation is a beautiful course and it is a difficult one due to narrow fairways and variable elevations. Considering most of us played there first time, the relatively poor scores seem not unreasonable.

I liked the way that we did out best to interpretate the rules and applied them strictly. This is a good start and should be a good habit to keep in our future games.

Look forward to the next game.

Thank buddies. It's really fun game. I wish it isn't my season finale.

It's really fun to play with you, Brian.
Hope somebody or a beautiful Indian Summer can convince you to make another game (or the one after...) as your season finale.

Thanks a lot Robin and others! Good game. The worst thing was one of my pushing cart wheels was broken after hole 1 so I had to push the cart with the other 2 wheels all the time... I guess that's why I scored over 100:D

My personal longest driver hit happened at hole 15 (par 5, 550 y), I would say it's over 250y.

If weather permits, we'll play more together for sure.
