Hey merlin, how may channels you could get, do you have to put it on the roof?

I didn't try it in Ottawa, so can't tell the result. But tried it in Toronto. When it was mounted in balcony in 5th flr and facing to south, I can get 28 HD channels, including all major Canadian and US channels, therefore there is no need to order Cable or satellite for local English news. I guess Ottawa will get less channels it is far from US border.

For a better result it should be put as high as possible. If you live in a single house, put it on the roof may be the better choice.

The situation in Ottawa is quite different from that in Toronto, there is no way to receive signals from CN tower

I DIY-ed a outdoor antenna 2 years ago. I could only get CBC HD and Radio Canada HD, and a few SD channels, with a lot of noise.

I gave up and now I'm with Bell dish.

I bought this one from The Source
