With GM shedding the Saturn brand and Saturn dealerships starting to close, the clear out of any remaining inventory has begun. From September 17 - 19, four Saturn dealerships in Ontario are offering a "Big Deal" on the 5-door 2009 Saturn Astra XE at a cash price of only $10,990 after the GM/Saturn loyalty credit of $1,000. To get the loyalty discount you must be a current lessee or owner of a GM vehicle that has been insured for the previous 6 months.
The Saturn Astra is actually just a rebadged Opel Astra, one of the top selling cars in Europe. It's built in Belgium and most drivers report excellent fit and finish with responsive handling. At $10,990 you also get some extras you wouldn't expect in this price range including air conditioning, power windows and locks, a 6-speaker stereo, and keyless entry. You can add automatic transmission for about $1,600. Frieght, PDI, admin fees, and taxes are extra as always. Put that all together and it's a good value buy in the compact car segment.
