Non-adjuvanted flu shots on the way

The City of Ottawa will start giving 5,500 non-adjuvanted H1N1 vaccine shots Thursday to pregnant women at its flu shot clinics, public health officials said Wednesday.

The non-adjuvanted shot for pregnant women — which doesn’t contain an immune-boosting additive found in the main vaccine — will also be given at standalone clinics set up by the city, and there are plans to give local obstetricians a supply of the non-adjuvanted vaccine.
Details of the standalone clinics and when the shot will be available to obstetricians will be announced Thursday, said Sherry Nigro, public health's manager of integration quality and standards.
With only enough vaccine to last until Friday, local public health officials continue to wait for the next shipment of swine flu shots from the provincial health ministry.
Meanwhile, an Ottawa man who had H1N1 has died. The man, who had an underlying medical condition, died Tuesday night, bringing the total of H1N1-related deaths since April to six.
The number of lab-confirmed H1N1 cases has jumped this week with 44 new cases reported. Seven more people have been hospitalized this week, said Nigro.
One-third of Ottawa schools — 114 out of 348 — are reporting absentee levels of 10% or more.
Over nine days of city-run vaccine clinics and hospital-based clinics for health-care staff, 100,000 shots have been delivered to high-risk priority groups, said Nigro.

Just called city and asked. The lady said although the news reported Thursday, they still didn't have enough details on the logistics. So we still have to wait... for a little longer.. I guess :(
