Directed by Wen Yimin
Made at the peak of the martial arts mania in 1920s Shanghai, this is the tale of a woman warrior, Yun Mei, who is trained to deploy magic powers against a rampaging army. Accompanied by live music performed by Devil Music Ensemble, using a combination of traditional Chinese instruments – drums, erhu (2 string violin) and guqin (Chinese lap steel) – along with electric violin, guitar, vibraphone and synthesizer. In the Auditorium. Cost: $5, Members $3.
