How to use caulking gun to cover up window draft and kicthen crack?

Anyone who knows how to use Caulking gun properly? It seems easy. But when I tried, the caulking material came out from the bottom of
the bottle rather than the front point. It is leaking. This is the 2nd
time I have this problem. But I desperately need to fix some
problems due to leaking.
