Ottawa Flyfishers Society
Fly Fishing Swap and Sale
Tuesday, January 5, 2010
7:30 pm at theChamplain Field House, corner of Clearview and Cowley,
off Island Park drive near the Ottawa River Parkway.
The 2nd OFS Swap & Sale is intended to provide OFS members and their friends, including other local fishing clubs, with an opportunity to spend an evening chatting, bragging, and browsing while trading, or selling any new or used surplus equipment. It follows, of course, that it’s also a great opportunity to acquire that missing piece of (desperately) needed equipment at a bargain price. This might be especially attractive to new fly-fishers.
Extra snacks and beverages will be provided for the pleasure of the members.
Format:
1. All OFS members and their friends, including other local fishing clubs, are welcome and encouraged to participate in trading, selling, or buying equipment.
2. Commercial vendors who are members of the Ottawa Flyfishers Society are also welcome to participate, with new or used equipment.
3. No fees will be charged for participation in this Swap & Sell.
4. Tables will be set up around the periphery of the room at approximately 7:00 pm and will be available to participants on a first-come basis. It is expected that the needs of individual participants for table space will vary depending on the number of items they have. Accordingly, all participants should take only the amount they actually need. Each Commercial participant can reserve up to two tables by contacting Bruce Clarke (clarkebd@sympatico.ca or (613) 824-8922).
5. While fly-fishing equipment is the principal focus of the swap & sale, any fishing equipment is eligible. If it can be carried, bring it on in: if it’s too big or awkward for that (e.g. pontoon boat or canoe), leave it on the lawn (snow field!) or bring a picture.
6. In situations where equipment is of significant size or value, it is recommended that advance notification be provided to the members through club email so that they may ask questions or consider whether they really need or want to mortgage the house in order to make an acquisition.
7. Upon arrival, all participants will be provided with string tags which they are encouraged to attach to their items for trade or sale with their name, price, and any other information they deem relevant. This will allow them to leave their station to do some browsing and chatting while ensuring that any others who are interested in their items can identify the owner. It will also provide for the efficient return of any misplaced items.
8. It is the responsibility of all participants to properly safeguard and otherwise secure their property. OFS will not be responsible for damaged, misplaced, or otherwise lost items. Similarly, all transactions take place solely between the participants directly involved and any matters of warranty, suitability to purpose, or disputes of any nature shall be settled between them.
9. Any questions should be directed to Bruce Clarke at clarkebd@sympatico.ca or (613) 824-8922.
