I was disgusted by the final results, even though China ended up collecting a silver medal. South Korean's Kim was disqualified for "cross-tracking" the American Apolo Anton Ohno, after finishing 1st. The decision was announced by the Australian chief referee during Kim's victory lap. The result raised many criticism, including one from Italy's Fabio Carta, who finished 4th. He said and I quote "It’s absurd that the Korean was disqualified". Where the hell is the cry for justice this time?

It is a right decision, if you understand the Short Track.
According to the tape showed later, the Korean should be disqualified, unless the tape is fake.

No, from the angles NBC showed, Apolo was trying to pass Kim but failed, he then made a Hollywood-movie like gesture that surely got the referee's attention. Even NBC's commentator said that "Kim did what he had to do", and that he was "surprised" by the disqualification decision.

Have to get back to you on this one sage. I didn't see the final. Too be honest, I don't care much for short track anyway.

Well Canada's Marc Gagnon won a bronze medal as a result of Kim's disqualification. Does this raise your level of interest?

Sage, you have to be subjective. It doesn't matter Canadian won medel or not, if entendre has no interest in short track, then he does not have interest.

According to Kim's movement, he did break the rule.

Nope I knew that part ... I didn't think much of Canada getting a bronze and silver in women's ariels either ... I guess I am a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to Olympic events

entendre: I knew you didn't care for the bronze medal, I was only teasing you :) Short track is not a very popular sports in Canada. If it's not for Catriona Lemay Doan, the long track speed skate wouldn't be so popular in Canada either. The pair figure skating double gold medals raised so much controversy, quite a few countries are feeling uneasy in this Olympics. Russian even threatened to withdraw from the Games. What a shame! We can't even enjoy good old sports without involving dirty politics now!

NBC replayed the tape once again tonight. From a different angle, yes it did look like Kim was cross-tracking, but just so barely. I wonder the decision of disqualification would still stand if the order of finish was reversed and that if the American skater was cross-tracking the Korean. To be fair, it probably would, but I bet a lot of people like me couldn't help but would keep wondering...

I thought you were thrilled that Canada women hockey team won the gold medal. As far as I know, women hockey is not a traditional sport :D

to be honest, I usually don't enjoy watching women's hockey ... the fact is a "A" level midget team (15-16 years old) could beat them. Maybe you don't believe me but it is true ... you know your skating, I know my hockey.
