Under the supervision of the Manager, Computer Operations, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring operational Information Systems availability. Cognos' IT environment currently includes over 200 servers, with multiple OS and hardware flavours requiring near 100% availability for customer and client support. Main IS platforms are Solaris, HP-UX and other Unix, Windows NT, DG, AS400, HP-iX and Vax/VMS. This is a full time after-hours night position.

The Challenge

Complete backups and restores using Cheyenne Arcserve and Veritas Netbackup.
Answer and follow up to resolution service call placed with external agencies.
Monitor health of Production systems.
Enforce IT security as required.
Participate in data center physical facilities management.
Your Expertise

Technical degree/diploma in computer systems with at least one year experience as a technician or operator.
Preferred IS platform skills are Unix and Windows NT.
Experience using BrightStor Arcserve (NT) and Veritas NetBackup (NT & Unix) would be a definite asset.
Resourceful and autonomous.
Availability for after-hour (nights) support.
Location: Ottawa, ON
