The sales tax scene is changing a bit for those of us in British Columbia and Ontario. Starting July 1, 2010, the current PST and GST will be combined into one tax, the HST (Harmonized Sales Tax). Some items that were previously only taxed with GST will now be taxed with HST... check out our new article for a full list of what's going to be affected. Fortunately, a lot of items will be exempt from HST, including prescription drugs, child care, residential rents, legal aid, resale homes and most health and education services.
