Job Opportunity - OCCSC Youth Summer Camp ESL Instructor/Camp Counsellor
The Ottawa Chinese Community Service Centre is seeking an ESL Instructor/Camp Counsellor for Youth Summer Camp. The successful candidate will prepare lesson plans, teach ESL class, and organize recreational activities for Chinese newcomer youth. He/She will also be reliable, creative, enthusiastic, and outgoing. We offer a competitive salary.
Position Type: Youth Summer Camp ESL Instructor/Camp CounsellorEmployment Status: Temporary full time position of 35 hours per weekTerm: July 5- 30, 2010 Time: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm (Monday – Friday) plus 20 hours preparation before the camp

Responsibilities:
- Teach ESL class to Chinese immigrant youth (age 13-18) in the mornings
- Create and prepare lesson plans
- Plan and organize recreational activities (both arts and sports) in the afternoons
- Supervise Summer Camp participants on field trips
- Responsible for being an active part of all camp activities and promoting a positive healthy environment for the camp participants
- Responsible for the safety of Summer Camp participants at all times
- Fluent in English (Ability to speak some Mandarin an asset )
- Previous experience working with Youth
- Previous experience teaching ESL classes
- Police Records Check (to work with vulnerable sector)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to teach different sports and/or arts activities
- Reliable, creative, enthusiastic, energetic, outgoing, fun-loving
- CPR and First Aid Certificate an asset
- Access to a vehicle an asset
