how long can stay in Canada if just have US visa?

My firend just got US visa holding China's passport and there is not Canadian visa. As I know it's possible to visit Canada just using US visa, but there is certain hours' limitation, can anyone who has this experience advice me or direct me to the proper website/contact point? I don't think your friend can pass Canadian Custom without entry visa to Canada.

I'm sure most of tour group from China, they just need to apply for US visa, then they can stop in Toronto for one night. So I believe there is possible to visit Canada just using US visa. But I don't know how long?

Driving would be the cheapest way, about 4.5 hours from Detroit to Toronto. However you still need a Canadian visa to enter Canada.

I just checked the Canadian immigration and Canadian consulate website, it's right that it has to apply for Canadian visa, at least transit visa. It's pity that I can't meet my friend due to the time is too tight to apply for visa right now.
