Avoid CIK Telecom's internet. They're LIARS!
I was fed up with Bell's bandwidth limit, and I canceled and decided to switch. While researching I'm torned between Teksavvy or CIK Telecom. Teksavvy offers 5M 200GB dry loop internet for $37.25 a month, while CIK Telecom offers 7M unlimited bandwidth dry loop internet for $39.99. I ultimately chose speed and bandwidth over reputation and price.
BIG MISTAKE.
CIK Telecom's internet is THE SAME AS TEKSAVVY!!!
They claim a speed of 7M, but my modem (TP LINK TD-W8960N) shows the theoretical download and upload speed on my line as 5056Kbps and 800Kbps, respectively. Speed test shows the ISP as Teksavvy, and I only get around 4.3Mbps at download Toronto.
The second lie, which is the definitive proof that it is the same as Teksavvy, was that it WASN'T REALLY UNLIMITED BANDWIDTH! They actually charge you extra if you go over 200GB a month, the same bandwidth limit from Teksavvy.
I find it amazing that they blatantly put 2 BIG lies on their ads. I called them and they deny these accusations, saying Bell choose a speed depending on your area so it avoids packet loss (big BS) and they can't put all the info on an ad. Come on, UNLIMITED and 200GB LIMIT means completely different things. It doesn't take anymore space to write 200GB limit on the ad.
Worse of all, they charge more for the same service as Teksavvy. I pay $39.99, where I had to pay a year upfront to get that price, where Teksavvy charges $37.25 monthly.
Do not use CIK Telecom. They don't deserve to be in business with their shady business practices. I'm gonna switch to Teksavvy. I feel better knowing that I'm using a company that is honest and reputable.

He doesn't offend me with his usage of language - and most companies don't know that RFD exist until they start to lose customers over bad customer service relations - ie - that guy whose girlfriend got the bad floral arrangement on Valentine's Day.

I think the 5mbps limit is imposed by Bell for all resellers of their lines. It's indeed false to claim 7mbps if that's the case.

Looking at their website right now, it reads (reading the chinese section):
UP TO 7mb/s high speed internet
Unlimited Download
If paid for 1 whole year @ $39.99/month
UP TO 7mb/s high speed internet
Unlimited Download
If paid for 1 whole year @ $39.99/month
I'm with Teksavvy and I'm using the 5mb/s, but I'm only getting 4.3mb/s because of overhead. There is a reason why they say UP TO, because there is no guarantee that they can give you that speed in the first place.
Go file those consumer complaints to the government:

So lesson learned, always go with the flow and stick with what MOST PEOPLE are using.

I understand the concept of overhead, but my modem shows my DSL line's theoretical speed, and the theoretical speed it shows is 5Mb/s. It doesn't matter how good your connection is, it is impossible to reach 7Mb/s, not even 5Mb/s.

I'm not comfortable with you even remotely relating your bad experience with a company to the actual race of people running it.
it's called racist and it's not ok. not even when you are of the same race.

I am glad I read these discussions, on what company not to do business with.

you are missing the point. I'm not offended because he posted his experience.
I am offended because he stated that the company screwed him up because it's owned by Chinese. That's simply ignorant, disturbing, and wrong.

Chinese Restaurants:
Order a plate of chow mein and you will notice the plate is 80% of it is bean sprouts. Put more soy sauce to trick everyone especially the non-asians. Bean Sprouts are 29cents - 39cents/lbs.

A blanket statement such as "Chinese companies are sneaky and shouldn't be trusted" is gross stereotyping and simply asking for trouble.
I have seen "Caucasians" companies practicing fraudulent act as well. There are always bad apples among any ethnicity group, just like that there are plenty of honest well-run businesses out there as well.
It's still racism even if it's towards your own kind. OP's beef is with CIK. Not the entire race.
