Sincerely want to learn mandarin. I don't need formal teacher or formal course.
Just need someone who can correct my mandarin over the phone or in person, say 30min twice a week, hopefully the rate is cheaper than taking a course.

Or, in exchange, I can teach you oral English for the same amount of time.

Thanks!

Thanks for the response.

I think I need to clarify English is not my mother tongue, so it is far from native English. To be honest, if your oral English is quite good already, there is nothing I can exchange with you.

What is your mother tongue?

My oral English is not very good.
Thanks for the response.

My plan is once/week(flexible date & time, confirm in advance by email), about 30min each time. Half of the time is Mandarin and the other half is English. I'll email you the content of mandarin I am going to speak to you in advance. You just correct my pronunciation, so you don't have to prepare anything. Sound good?

I like playing tennis, learning mandarin at the same time is also a good idea :-)

can you check your QQH

I like playing tennis too, where do you play? I play at March Tennis Club.

A question for you all mandarin experts:

I want a fast way to speak basic mandarin.

Should I waste time in learning pinyin first or I just go ahead to hard memorize mandarin sounds of common conversational words:confused:?

Thanks in advance and cheer!

what's your purpose on learning mandarin? if you really want to speak well, you need to know Pin Yin. that's my suggestion.

Thanks for your advice. Look like it is not too easy to learn:(
Well, my purpose is to make myself more Chinese even among Chinese peoples.:o

In my opinion, Pinyin helps you at least in 3 aspects:
1) better understanding Chinese pronunciations of Chinese characters;
2) helping you use Chinese dictionaries (to know how to write based on pronunciation);
3) giving you an easy start and bridge from English to Chinese.

I love Pinyin, having conducted some research into machine-translating Pinyin articles to Chinese characters.

Good luck to your Chinese learning.
