Ottawa - Residents of the National Capital Region can expect traffic and transit delays, disruptions and detours during the Queen’s visit to Ottawa from June 30 to July 3, 2010. Road closures will begin at approximately 10 a.m. on June 30 until late morning July 3. Residents are encouraged to plan ahead and allow for extra travel time, particularly in the downtown core and when the Queen is moving to and from the airport.
The known road closures at this time include:
June 30:
• Mackenzie King Bridge (westbound) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Elgin Street between Queen Street and Laurier Avenue from noon to 2 p.m.
• McLeod Street between Elgin Street and O’Connor Street from noon to 2 p.m.
• Metcalfe Street between Argyle Avenue and McLeod Street from noon to 2 p.m.
There will be no parking on Metcalfe Street between McLeod Street and Slater Street from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
July 1
• All regular Canada Day road closures will be in effect (for more details, visit ottawa.ca/traffic )
July 2
• No road closures expected
July 3
• Possibility of some minor traffic disruptions as the Queen departs for the airport late morning
Other rolling road closures can be expected in the above areas during the Queen’s visit.
