Cable companies have been busy stepping up their online presences in a big way. Rogers, Videotron, and Shaw Communications are offering movies and TV shows online -- some free for everyone, and more available to customers.
Rogers has come up with Rogers On Demand Online, which offers a few tiers of content. There is some content ("hundreds of full length TV shows and movies") that is open to everyone, more exclusive content available to all Rogers customers, and finally, Rogers Cable TV customers can wtach shows and content from their speciality channels. You can view a press release with more information here.
Videotron has gone forward with illicoweb.tv, which, according to the Montreal Gazette, offers "streaming video from 32 channels, such as RDI, TVA and HBO Canada". So far, the services appear limited to paying cable and satellite customers.
TechVibes.com reports that Shaw should have a similar product.
