I'd like to drive to USA in next week. Google Map suggested me two routes to drive.
(1). 416 -> 401 -> I-81: Crossing the border at Thousand Islands Bridge. I was told it is a toll bridge and many traffics from Toronto side so I prefer not to take this.
(2). 416 -> NY 37 -> NY 812: Crossing the border at Prescott Ogdenburg International Bridge. The CBSA website doesn't have many info about this border. Is anyone know this border is open 24/7? I probably corssing that around 9:00pm. Is that border also very busy? Anyone has experience at this border, pls share. many thank you!

All border crossings are open 24/7.

#2 is good. Not very busy, I'd say.

I thought the 2nd route is not toll. If this is the case, I think the 1st route is better then. Surely, 401 is much better.

Do you know the toll is just the bridge or it is the freeway?

Thanks.

两座桥都收费,而且也就3块来钱。第二座桥走的车很少,但是美国境内的公路不是高速公路,可能会多花一些时间。个人意见,还是走千岛湖吧,都是Highway,不容易走丢...

All right. Thank you for all comments. I thought the toll was $10 or $20.

I drove down thru option 2 (416 -> NY37 -> NY812). As expected, NY37 and NY812 are not freeway but not many vehicles on the roads. Speed limit is 55 miles but I can still drive 60 miles at most of the time. Crossing the border was awesome. It was Friday afternoon and before long weekend, I waited just one car in front of me.
I drove back thru option 1 (I-81 -> 401 -> 416): All free way. Speed limit is 65 mile and I can drive 70 at most of the time. I checked the waiting time at 1/2 hr before I arrived Thousand Islands Bridge. The website said waiting time was 15 minutes. However, when I arrived there, I waited 30-40 minutes. Moreover, if you drove back from USA, make sure you stay on the left lane. They has 4 booths for the left lane but only 1 booth to 1 lane for others.
Finally, Thousand Islands Bridge took me longer for my trip in general. One more reminder, if you took Thousand Islands, make sure you bought your gas before you arrived Thousand Island Bridge. There is no gas station after you crossed the bridge. It is $2 to cross Thousand Islands Bridge, $3 for Prescott Bridge (option 2). Right before Prescott Bridge, there are supermarket and gas station for your last minute shopping and cheap gas as well. ~~Enjoy~~ 8-)

Thanks for the update. Looks like Prescott Bridge is a good alternative.
