PSA: Lane reductions and closures on Woodroffe Avenue this weekend

Ottawa – The following lane reductions and road closures will be in effect on Saturday, August 7 and Sunday, August 8 for the installation of the Woodroffe Avenue pedestrian bridge between Meadowlands/Tallwood and Baseline Road. OC Transpo buses will remain on regular service during the bridge installation and detour routes for motorists will be clearly indicated.
When completed in 2011, the Woodroffe Avenue pedestrian bridge will be an important connection between the Baseline Transitway Station on the west side of Woodroffe Avenue and the Algonquin College campus, shopping centre and residential neighbourhood on the east side. It will provide a much safer and weatherproof crossing for the thousands of students and other members of the public that cross Woodroffe Avenue on a daily basis.
Saturday, August 7 from noon to 7 p.m.
• Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction on Woodroffe Avenue between Navaho Drive and College Avenue.
Saturday, August 7 from 7 p.m. to Sunday, August 8, at noon
• Woodroffe Avenue will be closed from Meadowlands Drive/Tallwood Drive to Baseline Road. Local traffic and OC Transpo buses will be permitted on Woodroffe Avenue northbound at Meadowlands Drive/Tallwood Drive.
Road detours will be in effect as follows:
• Motorists traveling northbound on Woodroffe Avenue are to use the Meadowlands/Merivale/Baseline detour.
Motorists traveling southbound on Woodroffe Avenue are to use the Baseline/Centrepointe/Tallwood detour.
Sunday, August 8, from noon to 6 p.m.
• Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction on Woodroffe Avenue between Navaho Drive and College Avenue.
