Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Program Manager provides a variety of dental public health services under the Health Protection and Promotion Act and its regulations and other socially funded dental program. Services are provided in a clinical and/or community setting.
Statement of Qualifications:
2 years program in Dental Hygiene.
Less than 1 year experience required.
Current licence to practice dental hygiene from the College of Hygienists of Ontario.
The successful candidate will be required to complete a Police Record Check to the City of Ottawa’s satisfaction.
A valid Ontario unrestricted "G" class drivers license (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated.
Knowledge of:
The theory and practice of Dental Hygiene;
Principles of prevention of dental diseases;
Teaching and motivational techniques;
Community educational, health and social services.
Competencies and Skills:
Perform the legislated duties of a Dental Hygienist with an acceptable degree of quantity and quality;
Plan and organize schedules and program;
Deal effectively with multicultural groups and individuals.
Language:
Day 1 Ready – immediate requirement for language proficiency:
French oral, reading, writing
English oral, reading, writing.
Candidates must meet language requirement for position upon hire.
