If you're a Toronto Hydro customer, you can get a free pre-programmed power bar with built-in timer. They're giving 500 power bars away per store, per day, at one of 25 GTA locations. The locations are spread out through the city at select Sears, Canadian Tire, Walmart, and Staples stores. The giveaway will be taking place during the last two weekends in October on Saturday, October 23rd and 30th starting at 10AM and on Sunday, October 24th and 31th starting at 11AM.
The power bar has room for 8 plugs and is pre-programmed to only turn on during off-peak evening hours from 9PM - 7AM where the price of electricity is the lowest. You can of course change the timer settings yourself. To prove that you're a Toronto Hydro customer you'll need to bring in your original August or September 2010 bill.
