Mentor Career Coach Training Program​

For those who want to help internationally Educated Professionals pursue their career advancement in Canada​

Organization: Ottawa Chinese Community Service Centre

Training Venue: Room 207, 240 Catherine Street, Ottawa

Date: Feb 2nd – March9th, 2011 (Every Wednesday)

Time: 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

The goal of this program is to train volunteers, who have several years of employment at a professional level (IT or Accounting preferably) or human resources related experience, to help Internationally Educated Professionals (IEP) pursue their careers in Canada.

This 6 week intensive training program will be delivered by Integration Resources Canada Inc. (IRCI), focusing on coaching and mentoring skills to assist IEPs who are currently exploring career opportunities. An orientation session and training will be delivered from Wednesday, February 2nd to Wednesday, March 9th. All sessions will take place in Room 207, 240 Catherine Street, Ottawa (corner Catherine and Kent).

Volunteer Mentors will learn and develop career and cultural competencies, leadership and community building skills, strategies for community inclusion, a method for assessing IEP competencies and contributions, strategic research methodologies, confidence building techniques, trust and listening skills. Volunteer Mentors are asked to make a commitment to complete the training and anticipate assisting at least one IEP.
