Yes, visa for mutiple entries. My friend took air flight from Hong Kong to Bejing, then left China from Bejing. he had a visa for two entries.

Once you are in Hong kong as a visitor, you will be granted be stay
there for 90 days.

为什么这种情况要多次签证？ 加拿大护照直接去香港，应该是免签入境的，然后香港去内地，需要一次签证，再从北京回加拿大又不用，总体一次签不够么

If you fly from Ottawa to Hong Kong directly , 然后香港去内地，需要一次签证.
I flow to Beijing and left from Hong Kong, only need 需要一次签证.

My friend was from Ottawa to Beijing first, then we flow to Hong Kong.
then he had to be back to Bejing to take flight from Beijing to Ottawa, this is why he had visa for two enties.

加拿大护照去香港不需要中国入境签证;但入境中国大陆,不管是从海外还是港澳,每次都需要有效签证才行.从台湾走的情况目前还不明朗,有明白人出来说说?

有一点需要注意：有一次进出境签证的已经进入中国的外国人如果去香港旅游就算出境了；再回大陆还得重新办签证。 法理上China和Hong Kong是独立的，虽然都是中国的主权。
