Just for all those who love to drive a standard transmission.
Couple of days ago, my clutch cable broke and I had to drive my car with no clutch. I thought I might share my experience with you all.
You can shift you gears even if you don't use clutch. You just have to match the engine speed with you gear speed. Every time you up-shift, put into neutral and then give a bit gas so that your engine is running at about some speed comparing to tranny. Then shift your gear, you will feel it slide into gear effortless - almost like it goes into gear by itself (btw, it won't damage your tranny unless you hear weird grinding noise which means your engine and tranny speed don't match.). Downshift is about the same.
The only problem is starting from Gear 1. In my case, my clutch cable was broken, so the clutch pedal is to the floor which means clutch switch is on at all time. I just have to put into 1st gear and start the car(the car is almost like it's in limp mode) and give a bit gas so it won't stall. Then wait till the RPM goes up enough and shifting to 2.
I hope this will be helpful for those unlucky ones like me who broke their clutch cable and for those want to try a cheap man's DSG.
