The City of Ottawa is starting its annual springtime sweeping of streets and sidewalks to keep Ottawa clean and green.
The sweeping operations will include both daytime and night time work and may result in minor noise and dust. Street sweeping cleans the city’s streets and sidewalks and removes dust, debris, and sand that have accumulated during the winter.
Concentrated Sweeping Operations
In addition to standard sweeping operations, the City completes “concentrated” sweeping in core neighbourhoods that have continuous on-street parking, which prevents effective sweeping of the roadway. These neighbourhoods include the downtown core, Vanier, New Edinburgh, Sandy Hill and the Glebe.
Parking Restrictions
To allow crews to complete the concentrated sweeping operations, daytime and night time on-street parking restrictions will be in effect in the above neighbourhoods between Monday, April 11 and Friday, April 15. The parking restrictions apply to all vehicles, including those with on-street parking permits.
Temporary “no parking” signs will be posted prominently in these areas. Vehicles parked where temporary “no-parking” signs are posted could be ticketed and towed to nearby streets.
Your patience and co-operation is appreciated. For more information, visit ottawa.ca or call 3-1-1 (TTY: 613-580-2401).
