U.S. President Barack Obama is expected to make a statement momentarily. It's being reported on CNN and in the New York Times that Osama bid Laden is dead.
The United States is expected to announce that it's in possession of bin Laden's body, a person familiar with the situation said late Sunday, The Associated Press reported.
Obama is expected to issue a statement Sunday night in the East Room of the White House.
It was unclear where bin Laden was killed and how the U.S. obtained his body, but CNN was reporting that he was killed in a mansion outside of Islamabad.
Officials have long believed bin Laden, the most wanted man in the world, was hiding a mountainous region along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
The person spoke on the condition of anonymity in order to speak ahead of the president.
