Rotate cuff tear - full thickness tear of the supraspinatous tendon treatment

Hi,

My friend was dignosed as full thickness tear of the supraspinatous tendon from the rotator interval by Ultrasound. I just wonder anybody has known this problem. Is conservative treatment better than a surgery? ANy advice would be much appreciated.
