CHEO Teddy Bears’ Picnic cancelled due to weather
The rainy weather that Ottawa has been experiencing over the last 48 hours has resulted in the cancellation of the CHEO Teddy Bears’ Picnic which was scheduled for Saturday, June 25th.
The heavy rainfall has made the grounds at the Governor General’s Residence at Rideau Hall unsuitable for the necessary vehicle and pedestrian traffic that is required to execute the event.
Event organizer Norma Lamont of the CHEO Foundation says; “This is the first time in the event’s 27 year history that we have had to actually cancel. We waited as long as we could to see if the weather would cooperate and we could get the grounds to the condition they need to be in to host the event but that didn’t happen. It is unfortunate as so many families look forward to the event every summer, but we will be back next year and hopefully we will be blessed with better weather.”
The Teddy Bears’ Picnic is an event organized by the CHEO Foundation as a thank you to the community for the amazing support the hospital receives from the people of eastern Ontario and western Quebec.
