Question for Visitor Visa (Urgent)

My friend's parents just got the visitor visa, issue date: April 8; expire date: July 7, one entry.

Does this mean they can only stay here until July 7, or they need to enter Canada before July 7, and the period of stay will be determined by the immigration officer at the point of entry?

By default, they can stay 6 months. Visa can be extended.
