问个事故保险赔偿的问题

孩子在练车, 准备考G2. 如果父母坐副驾驶位置陪练, 万一出事了, 是我们的责任, 请问孩子又没有保险, 父母的保险cover吗?

总觉得驾校那10小时不够, 虽然教练说孩子学得挺好, 可还是不放心, 想自己再陪孩子练练, 又害怕出事. 请教练这钱能省吗?

BTW, 孩子练车时, 除教练或父母在旁边, 后车座允许带人吗?

应该不cover。。。如果cover的话应该是跟借车给别人一样，能报，但是以后保险会很贵吧。。。

Graduated Licensing for Automobile Drivers

Class G1
New drivers of passenger vehicles learn to drive with six important conditions with a G1 licence. A new driver must hold a G1 licence for a minimum of 12 months before attempting the G1 road test. This time can be reduced to eight months if you successfully complete a Ministry-approved Beginner Driver Education Course . Drivers earn more privileges after passing their G1 road test.

As a G1 driver, you are required to:

maintain a zero blood alcohol level while driving;
be accompanied by a fully licensed driver, who has at least four years driving experience, and a blood alcohol level of less than .05 (accompanying drivers 21 and under must have zero per cent), in case he/she needs to take over the wheel;
ensure the accompanying driver is the only other person in the front seat;
ensure the number of passengers in the vehicle is limited to the number of working seat belts;
refrain from driving on Ontario's "400-series" highways or on high speed expressways such as the Queen Elizabeth Way, Don Valley Parkway, Gardiner Expressway, E.C. Row Expressway and the Conestoga Parkway;
refrain from driving between midnight and 5:00 a.m.
Note: If your accompanying driver is a driving instructor licensed in Ontario, you may drive on any road.

You must have at least 3 years' full license before you can teach your child driving.
You should call your insurance company to add your child as a G1 learner. They should not charge you for any money and your child will be coverd.

Any family member with driving license address same as YOURS must be reported to your car insurance company. In the past, parents avoid paying high insurance (even their kids were secondary driver) by saying that we won't let my kid access to family car key, which in fact, most of the time, was NOT the case. Hence, if there is accident, and your kid driver license address is same as yours, and was not reported to your insurance company, CAR insurance will deny any insurance claim. If your kid is a boy, under 25, in Toronto, as a secondary driver, and with ONE car, you expect insurance to go up by 1500 + , a girl is cheaper, less than 1000. Ottawa is much cheaper. If you have THREE cars, i.e. at any time, your kid can use one car (parents can at most drive two cars away), then, you should expect a boy under 25, car insurance to go up by 3000 to 5000.

Car insurance companies, at any time, want to charge you most, finding your fault NOT to pay insurance. Don't take risk.

Theoretically, your insurance policy should cover anyone else not listed as an occasional drive, such as your kid or a friend, for a temporary drive. It would not be a concern for me to let my kids use my car.

The thing is that insurance companies those days are really sucking money from their insurees. Like other mentioned, they always try to push away their responsibilities by declining your claims. So, you may want to have that in mind .......

原则上，孩子一有G1或G2后就要报保险公司。
没有明确加入保险，并不等于就没有保险，但保额非常低（可能只得20万Liability）。
如果想把一个小青年加入到父母的保单里（不是主驾驶），保额一样，那么代价就是多付7-8百Dollars/年。对于主驾驶的情况，增加的保费就更多了，形同抢钱。

My nephew lives in Toronto got his FULL license this summer, and he is 19.5 years old, his family insurance has gone up by more than two thousand. If his family has THREE cars, insurance company will consider him as principal driver (Father drives one car, mom drives one car, WHO drives the third car?)
2. If your kid goes to University and lives in another city, e.g. you live in Ottawa and your kid studies in Waterloo, then your kid can have access to your car only when your kid comes back from Waterloo, then you don't have to report that to insurance company. Or kid is not living with you.
3. Your friend who borrows your car doesn't live with you, and you ALLOW your friend to drive your, then your insurance covers your friend.

The best is to ask your insurance broker. Don't take risk. Good luck.

1. You are your kid parent.
2. Look at the example of Brian Tobin son (drunken and killed his friend, jailed for 18 months??)
3. If your family has two cars, maybe keep one car only, then your son always is the last to have access to that car! (like what I have said, what if your family has three cars).
4. When my family bought a second car, my wife said in the past, I dropped her to work, pick her up after work, we have more time to talk. When we have two cars, .... Maybe arranging who uses that car (I mean one car) can improve communication in the family.
5. Remember, a car in the hand of kid is like a gun, dangerous.

男孩子更要小心，开车更应该先挫其急！

不要担心钱，岂不知自己的孩子比钱更值钱、更宝贵？我觉得应该让孩子在教练的陪同下考完G1。然后再通过你们的考试（你们陪他开），才慢慢让他自己开、带人开。
