Q: Whenever it is time for our dog’s annual vaccinations, we are usually asked to bring in a sample of our dog’s stool for testing. Considering that we give our dog her monthly heartworm and flea prevention pills, which also protects our dog against worms, why is it still necessary to have her stools tested? Alternatively, why not just forget deworming, do the test and if it is positive, then treat?
