OC Transpo is pleased to announce the completion of the expanded Fallowfield Park & Ride in Barrhaven. The lot can accommodate 570 additional cars, allowing more residents of South Ottawa neighbourhoods to park their cars and get on the bus.
“Commuting to work or to school is a great alternative to driving,” said Mayor Jim Watson. “This expansion will offer more residents from one of Ottawa’s fastest growing communities greater opportunity to take transit."
"With a total of 1,665 parking spots, the improved Fallowfield Park & Ride is now the biggest lot across the City," said Councillor Diane Deans, Chair of the Transit Commission. "This expansion demonstrates OC Transpo’s commitment to better serve customers by giving them an additional transit option."
OC Transpo offers 13 Park & Ride lots within the city’s urban transit area. With this expansion, almost 6,300 Park & Ride spots are available to transit riders across the City on a daily basis.
“The expansion of the Fallowfield Park & Ride is good news for Barrhaven residents who can count on Transit when they need to,” said Barrhaven Councillor Jan Harder. “Meeting the demand for these new spots will attract even more new riders to our growing transit community."
In addition to the expanded Fallowfield Park & Ride, the Riverview Park & Ride recently grew by 210 spaces. Usage of Park & Ride spaces across the City continues to grow so residents are reminded to check octranspo.com for complete list of all lots in their area.
Customers are also reminded to park in designated parking spaces only, to allow for safe passage of emergency vehicles and to avoid receiving a fine.
For more transit information, contact OC Transpo at 613-741-4390. Customers can now sign up to receive live updates by e-mail or text message by subscribing to new alerts at octranspo.com. Transit users can also receive information on their iPhone, Blackberry and Android smart phones at octranspo.mobi.
This project was equally funded by the governments of Canada, Ontario and the City of Ottawa through the Infrastructure Stimulus Fund for roads, transit, pedestrian and cycling projects.
