If you deposit more 5000 cash, you will be asked to fill a form to explain the source of cash. For only $1700, no question asked.

did you mean 50K?
no body asked me any question when I put some money (>5K) in the bank when I came landing, and I enven did not have this issue in my mind. Why should he(she) have this kind of question? I may guess the money is ......

加拿大海关最新的规定是10k，要求填报。
如果你是新landing，且是在有华人业务代表的银行存钱，一般不问你。鬼佬们有时比较谨慎一点，填个单子而已，他们就不用怕负责任了。

因为有很多打现金工的，不报这部分的税。
加拿大什么都需要你出示证据，你得准备好怎么证明这不是收入。
不过这种小数目，且不是有规律的发生，应该不会问的！

my experience, no worry at all

I guess you landed Canada at least two years ago. There was a new law passed to check Cash transfer more than 5K.
