To be frank, it is very competitive for this year's admission, too many
applicants! As far as I know, both OU and CU reqires a GPA at least 85
if your score was from China. There will be one exception, if you graduated
from the one of China's top 10 universities, your GPA can be lower, but the
bottom line is 80.
It is a good idea to talk to the professors. If a professor interest in you
and will be your advisor, everything will be simple. But this may not be easy.
As far as I know, A lot of graduate students are still trying to find an advisor.
Register as a special student may be helpful, especially if you can leave a good
impression to the teacher. Furthermore, if you are already taking the graduate
courses, when you contact other professors(any professor in Canada), they will
know what you are learning. You may have a much better chance.
You may try other universities. Here in Ottawa, there are too many guys who lost
job and they all coming to apply for school. The scretary told me this year the
application is CRAZY! and so do the professors, their critera is much higher than
before! Try some other universities, like schools in Alberta and Monitoba.
Good luck!
