Complaints against officers continue to decrease

The number of public complaints lodged against Ottawa police this year continues to fall, according to a report to the Police Services Board. As of Sept. 30, the police service had received 171 public complaints, down from 212 filed by the same time in 2010, the report says. The five-year average for the time period is about 170 complaints. Of the public complaints received so far, 153 are related to conduct. Complaints initiated internally also dropped.
