Professors decry cuts to Library and Archives

OTTAWA — Canada is losing invaluable records of its history because of funding cuts and management decisions at Library and Archives, the national University Teachers Association said Wednesday. “Badly conceived restructuring, a narrowing of its mandate and financial cuts are undermining LAC’s ability to acquire, preserve and make publicly available Canada’s full documentary heritage,” association director James Turk told a news conference where he launched a campaign “Save Library and Archives Canada.”
